skepasts on "D'Angelico NYSS-3B gigbag"

I'm Looking for a gig bag for a D'Angelico NYSS-3B. I'm looking for something that's more of a sleeve then a big case. I went to a try some, but with the bigger headstock it didn't fit the Levy or Harvest bag I tried. However, due to limited stock I only tried a couple. Any Suggestions?

Does anyone have the transcription of this tune? It could be just theme and chords of course.
I'm really interested in this, and if someone could share it would be great.
Thanks.

Hey everyone, I hope this is ok to ask for on here.

I am working on arranging "Our Secret World" for a college recital and was trying to work out the chord changes. From what I can tell, the changes published in the "Compositions" book are far from correct so I am trying to figure it out on my own. It's quite a difficult tune so I was hoping if someone on here had transcribed changes they could share them.

Thanks!

Hello everyone,

Just was wondering if anyone here has had experiences with tendonitis, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, etc from playing among other things as well, and how the resolved it?

Obviously I know not doing the activity that causes it is important (playing), but I am finding that difficult being in auditions for universities and just being obsessed with playing.

If anyone has had experiences with it I would really appreciate any insight on how they got through it. I know I should stop playing for some time, but am looking for all other solutions before any long lay off

Thanks!

I'm having trouble finding the videos that came out 3 or 4 years back... they were original and untitled compositions.

The videography was very dark, and the music was Kurt by himself but he has some pre-recorded stuff looping or playing in the background, including some keyboard parts and drum machine parts. There were three or four different videos ranging from 7 to 15 minutes long each (if I remember correctly). I think they were posted on YouTube and someone here posted them to this forum. Can anyone point link them here or point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

Hello Kurtonians!

Recently, I've been in the process of creating backing tracks for contemporary jazz/instrumental music, and have just released my first two tracks: "Zhivago" (Rosenwinkel), and "Nemesis" (Parks). I've recorded a couple sample videos for each:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-hX2UJzL20&list=UUQsVVGfGQOCQ5rQCTEuXf9w

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3rqg3llRIA&list=UUQsVVGfGQOCQ5rQCTEuXf9w

These tracks are available for purchase on my website, http://www.davidschwartzarts.com/backing-tracks/

Of course, I have purchased mechanical licenses for each track, so artists get a cut of each sale!

Currently in the works are backing tracks for:

Rosenwinkel- Kurt1, Star of Jupiter, Brooklyn Sometimes
Joshua Redman: Jazz Crimes
Tim Miller: Electric
Adam Rogers: Confluence
Allan Holdsworth: Kinder

Release of these tracks is somewhat contingent on how well the first ones work out sales-wise. While purchasing mechanical licenses is not THAT expensive, it does add up!

If anyone has any requests for future backing tracks, please let me know!

Thanks for your support,

David Schwartz

Johnny Smith interview.

I really enjoyed this. A really great interview where the interviewer asks all the right questions and Johnny talks a lot about fundamentals.

So I'm an Ozzie, going to be in New York for a week from April 18th, staying in Brooklyn.
I know it's a big city, will be cruising the Museums and Galleries by day, but by night want music. I love modern stuff, Kurt, Potter, Krantz, Binney- so know I must go to Smalls and the 55 Bar, but looking for other joints to check out too.
Locations of cool music stores would be cool too!
Any tips greatly appreciated!

Hello everyone,

Anders uploaded yesterday a photo in instagram about Kurt (or someone´s back) working on a new album . https://instagram.com/p/0RWLCOmRym/ it seems it´s not a solo album, other photo is Mark Turner in the studio too. For sure I´m not the only one who would like to know information about the new album, so if Kurt or Anders find it suitable it would be nice gets some news about it. Thanks anyway. Best wishes for everyone.

Sandemose on "Kurt clinic from 2006"

Hey Kurt and/or Anders. I recently stumbled across a clinic with Kurt that was new to me. Its recorded 2006 in August. It says: NGW Clinic August 2006. Kurt plays a nylon (?) guitar. Its over 2 hours long and there are some great discussions and questions to Kurt. The vibe is really nice and Kurts playing is so inspiring.

Im afraid for all the legal issuses with all this, I wont post the link now. If I get a "go" from Kurt or Anders, I´ll post a download link to the clinic. What do you guys in charge say?

Best, Sandemose

I live in Pittsburgh doing music full-time as a player and private teacher supporting a family. How many on this forum are doing music to feed a family? Two or three years ago I had over 40 students per week in a local music shop in addition to gigs but have steadily lost students. What do you do to get more students? I'm at wits end because we have a website, Facebook page, etc but can't seem to maintain or increase numbers.
